If you do not find the answers to your questions please contact us for assistance.
Q. How much does it cost to adopt a dog through Gateway 4 Paws?
A. All adoption fees are considered a DONTAION as we are registered 501(c)3. Please email us for more information. All of our dogs are seen by a vet. They are checked for health, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, vaccinations, including Bordetella, and micro-chipped. Dental is also completed when needed. Please visit our Facebook Page for events and to stay up to date on our pets.
Q. How do I adopt a dog thru Gateway 4 Paws?
A. When you are ready to adopt a dog, we'll ask you to complete a screening process.
- Fill out an Adoption Application
- We'll have a brief conversation with you to determine your needs and preferences, find out about your daily schedule, and talk about your previous experience with pets.
- If applicable, we'll call your veterinarian to ensure that previous pets have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and well cared for.
- We'll do a home visit to see the environment where the dog will live and answer your questions.
Q. Do the dogs have to be spay or neutered?
A. Yes, all of our dogs will be spay/neutered prior to being adopted.
Q. Can you help me rehome my dog?
A. We are happy to help families in need to re-home their dogs provided that the dog meets our adoption criteria, and that you can hold onto your dog until we find him or her a new home. Please send us the dog's age, weight, breed, medical history, and whether he or she gets along with other dogs, with cats, and kids. We would also appreciate it if you could send us a photo of the dog.
Q. Will you adopt a dog out of state?
A. Yes - as long as we can arrange a home visit, we can adopt out of our area.
Q. Why are adoption fees so high?
A. We are a non-profit rescue organization and make no money on adopting dogs. The donations only cover a portion of our investment into the care of your adopted pet. Your pet has been part of a foster home environment where they have received love, socialization and training. In addition, pets are current on all vaccinations for age, microchipped, and spayed/neutered prior to adoption, given any necessary vet care in case of illnesses, tested for heartworms, placed on heartworm and flea preventative. Taking all the costs of feeding and other supplies as well, our adoption fee is really very minimal.
