Exxon came from a commercial breeder who closed for business & all their dogs are now coming to rescue & looking for their very own families. Exxon is wary of people when he first meets them, but if you have patience & work with him, he will become a great friend.
Exxon is very hesitant on harness and leash, he panics & thrashes. It is unfair to force him to learn a leash immediately, he needs time to build a relationship & become comfortable in his new environment before tasks like leash training are imposed on him. So, for this reason, Exxon will need a secure physically fenced yard. This is for his safety to do his business and a place for you to work with him on the harness and leash. He should never ever be left alone in the backyard.
Exxon's foster mom says he is doing excellent on potty training. It is important to note that anytime there is a change in environment or schedule, you must give the dog a chance to be successful. A new routine that employs consistency & praise will help set them up for success. Exxon likes to be praised & he will respond well to positive reinforcement.
Exxon is a great lounger & will watch TV with you. He is friendly & fun, he would do great with respectful children. He is also crate trained & is comfortable sleeping in there at night with a nightlight & sound machine.
Because of Exxon’s beginning, he is not going to run up to you for hugs and kisses. However in time, he will. You are going to need patience and time to work with him and gain his trust. Remember, everything is new to him. He loves children, adults, men, women, all his foster canine siblings.
Please let us know if you have the perfect home for Exxon by sending us an email. Gateway4paws@gmail.com
