Since we are 100% foster-based rescue, only applicants that meet requirements will be contacted. Applications can be found here on our website. We do not allow shipping and do not transport. You must live within 350 miles from Maryville, IL & able to drive for a meet and greet.

Elena is experiencing a family & home for the very first time. It has all been a bit overwhelming, but she is navigating each new challenge with zest & inquisitive curiosity. You can see from her photo collage that Elena has a few different looks depending on her current haircut. 

Elena came from a commercial breeder, she is still learning to be social, so she is hesitant with new people. She enjoys children, but only if they are calm & gentle with her. She particularly enjoys her small canine foster siblings. We find that when there is canine companionship, dogs learn much faster. 

Her new backyard is securely fenced in. Because she is a flight risk, her family will need a very secure physically fenced yard. Elena is simply not ready for leash training right now. She does not appreciate or respond well to having a tether around her neck or body.  

Elena has been doing well on house training. She is given ample opportunity to go out on a regular basis. She has mastered the stairs going down to the yard but needs assistance coming back up the stairs. Her new family will need a solid plan for continuing her successful training. 

At night Elena likes to sleep in the big bed with everyone. She seems to be most happy, in any area, when she has a partner to hang out with. Elena is ready to find her forever family to bond with, is it yours?
